October 27, 2008 - Filly update

Today was a short workday for me, had a chiropractor appointment at 2:30 to get to. All three fillies were easy to catch today, and lead like they have been doing it their whole lives. I just did a lot of hands on today. I was able to trim their front feet today too and finish them on the stand. (after only a few minutes spent with each of them letting them know it was okay for me to pick up their feet) They are coming along so quickly and are all pretty level headed (for no more time than has been spent). Princess and Leader have a little bit of seperation anxiety when they are first caught and put in the round pen, but they are over it in less than five minutes of handling and some sweet talk! They will all be two years old in March or April 2009. Princess and Six are both 13.1 and Leader is 14 hands...pretty good sized babies. Coleton helped me again yesterday with lunging them and handled them a lot. He said "Mom...you really call this work...and people actually pay you to do it? It's fun, not work!" I would have to agree. I think the only thing I enjoy more is actually riding, but I love teaching the babies.

I didn't have anyone there with me today, so I didn't get any pictures, but the boys will be with me Thurs thru Sunday - we should get some good pics... we are going to pony the fillies with the pony horse and try to get them ponying on the track this weekend. (just the practice track at home) I bet Six will let me on her back this weekend while she is ponied. She's a sweetie!
